Desktop Phones

In addition to a mobile phone and a softphone on the computer, you and your employees may receive and make calls from desk phones.

PBX may work with all models of popular vendors of SIP-equipment: AudioCodes, Yealink, Grandstream, Cisco / Linksys, D-Link, Panasonic, Escene, Aastra, Fanvil, Eltex and others. You may set up a SIP-phone (IP phones) or connect your old analog phones via softphone gateway to the PBX.

It is simple to configure an IP phone. Just follow the instructions. To complete the configuration, you will need 3 parameters: server, login and password. Where to get them?

These parameters are shown during the creating an employee. For example:

According to this example:

  • Login is ivan.ivanov (usually you need to enter the part before @)
  • Password is your password
  • Server is firma.megapbx.ru (this is the address of your PBX. It may differ from the example above)

Enter the IP phone settings for this sample. Then save. The configuration is complete and the IP phone is to register.

Note. If you have already created an employee, but do not remember the password, you may create a new password by editing the employee. If you change the password that is already used in, for example, a softphone, the softphone will stop working and will require to input a new password. Be careful changing a password.

You may use ordinary desktop analog phones but you will need to connect them using a special softphone gateway. Configuring softphone gateway ports is similar to setting up IP phones. If your company has used an office PBX before, you may change the phone wires from the PBX to the gateway. Then the employees will work with the usual phones through the Virtual Office.

Every IP phone supports all the PBX functionality, including transferring and holding calls. Both incoming and outgoing calls via IP phones and analog phones are recorded with the «Call records» option.

Please, note that desk phones can work simultaneously with your mobile phones. For example, you provided the employee with a corporate SIM card and installed a desk phone. An incoming call will arrive both on the mobile phone and on the desk phone at the same time. This is very convenient because an employee is able to respond using any available device at a particular moment. Also, during a conversation, the employee may «throw» a call from one device to another by pressing * (an asterisk). This will not be noticed by the client.

The options STUN, NAT Traversal, proxy servers should be switched off.

The SIP ALG option should be switched off. You may do so in the settings of your router

Codecs: specify the priority: PCMU (G711u, G711 u-law), PCMA (G711a, G711 a-law), G729, if possible

It is necessary to provide a traffic exchange for the subnet 193.201.230.128/26, and to allow TCP ports (5060, 11024) and UDP (5060, 10000-65535).

A dedicated channel of at least 100 Kbps / s is recommended for one simultaneous conversation. It is recommended to configure QoS for softphone traffic on the router. Otherwise, you may have impediments while download the channel of your office.
